The hedgehog who eventually occupies this house is literally in the Hedgehog Ritz! Made from the most solid materials, beautifully put together, can’t recommend Riverside Woodcraft’s hedgehog products enough. I also have their feeding station which is much appreciated almost every night by one of my visiting hedgehogs.
The house is beautifully made and a definite plus with the rot proof roof. We look forward to seeing that the hogs are using it. However, when it arrived, the pack must have been dropped, possibly by DPD, the carrier. The rear foot was very badly splintered and the two screws holding it though the base and into the rear wall were badly bent. There was also slight damage to the roof on the corner, but nothing about which to be overly concerned. When reporting this to Riverside Woodcraft, I asked for a replacement foot and screws as being a practical sort of person, I could easily replace the damaged foot. There was no problem with the request and we are now in possession of a lovely hedgehog house. Conclusion: There is no doubt that these British made hedgehog houses are a joy to own as the construction is very good BUT there needs to be protective cushioning of some sort in the box when sending by carrier in order prevent any damage and to negate any claims for replacement products, hence four stars and not five. However, I cannot fault the response by Riverside Woodcraft and thoroughly recommend their products if our hedgehog house represents their quality and response to our problem.
The hedgehog house looks to be of good quality; no residents as yet. A shame delivery was 4 days late and no response to my requests for updates until after it arrived.
Just positioned in garden but no sign of hedgehogs yet close to the box. They are however occasionally visiting the garden so hoping to see them use the box soon.
Worth the few days wait. Well made, sturdy and good design , ventilated and roomy. Ideal for hedgehogs.
